Post 3 Intertextuality

The genre of music that is played in the jingle of BBC Radio 1 and as background music during radio interviews is electric. this gives off an enthusiastic and vibrant vibe to the show. this vibe can be compared to night clubs  and how a majority of nightclubs are portrayed in the media. From this we can connote that BBC Radio 1 wants the audience to perceive them as a fun and enthusiastic radio show where anything has the possibility of happening. We can also connote that, since nightclubs are commonly open to the whole general public, no matter the background, we can say that BR1 wants to have that image of being a radio show that everyone can tune into.

In recording of the BBC Radio 1 show. We can see that the walls are depicted as being a mix of dark purple and regular purple. The colour purple represents Royalty and nobility, which would make sense in this case considering the companies connections with the monarch and it being issued a Royal charter. Alternatively, purple represents creativity, which is a part of the BBC's values ("Creativity is the lifeblood of our organisation).

Furthermore, Greg James has a segment on the show called 'Game of Phones' where callers have to guess the last digit of a celeb's phone number in order to talk to them. The name of the game is a reference to the TV show 'Game of Thrones.
