post 2: genre research
To fit into the genre of a music magazine radio show, this clip includes an interview with a popular and relevant artist at the time. This is to put the artist in the public eye in order to promote their new music. furthermore, since it is a music magazine radio show, it makes sense that a music artist gets interviewed.
At the beginning of the interview the BBC Radio One jingle plays. This is common for radio shows to have jingles nowadays in order to achieve a sense of branding. Furthermore in the background of this video various props such as BR1 branded microphones, headphones, monitors and turntables are present in the video. the presence of these props would highlight to the audience that this is a high-quality and well produced show, which is further enforced by the fact that this show is made and distributed by the BBC, who in 2016 and 2017 had a budget of £34.7 million going towards BBC Radio.
