Post 5-Media Theory

Semiology, Barthes- one phrase that will be used within the introduction of my show is 'Bless your ears'. This of course has religious connotations to it and will give the audience this imagery of this show as being a sacred gift that the BBC have laid upon the masses.

Feminist theory, Van Zoonen- Throughout the show. Andrew Torres will be the more dominant voice in the conversation, controlling what questions will be told.This idea of the Male host being the more dominant/controlling voice over the female guest also utilises Van Zoonen's theory of feminism and Patriarchy as, a male host who has control over what question a woman answers would connote that the media is 'for men, by men', highlighting Patriarchy, and adhering to the radical feminists views on society. With this being said, the radio show also goes against that theory in the aspect that we only get to hear Andrew and Danielle's voices, so we cannot judge them based off their looks, losing the idea of women being used as objects and men being used as spectacles.
